Día de los veteranos
El Día de los veteranos significa mucho para mí, como concejal del quinto distrito, continúo trabajando para sembrar los valores del patriotismo en los jóvenes y que recuerden a aquellos que han servido a este país en el las fuerzas armadas. Esta labor se realiza trabajando con los grupos de veteranos y el desfile de los veteranos con el apoyo del Gobierno de la Ciudad de Tucson.
Por los últimos catorce años, un contingente de miembros del Gobierno y distintas organizaciones incluyendo su servidor realizamos una visita al Southern Arizona V.A. Hospital para obsequiar cartas de agradecimiento a los veteranos y al personal del hospital por su trabajo y servicio.
Las escuelas de los condados de Pima y Tucson, así como los grupos y organizaciones realizaron un voluntariado para hacer las cartas de agradecimiento para los veteranos.
Gran generación
Para recordar a los 396 Tucsonenses de la Gran generación que se enlistaron de manera voluntaria para servir al país durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial e hicieron el último sacrificio, estoy trabajando para asegurarme de que el monumento a la Segunda Guerra Mundial en Tucson (World War II Memorial) sea concluido, al llegar su décimo aniversario. El monumento está ubicado en Armory Park. Esto fue idea de Gilbert Quintanilla, quien habían servido a nuestro país en el ejército y se percató de que nuestra comunidad no tenía un monumento para recordar a los Tucsonenses que participaron y murieron en la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
Espero que tenga la oportunidad de honrar a los tucsonenses que sirvieron a este país en el ejército, durante el almuerzo de tributo a los veteranos que tendrá lugar el próximo domingo 5 de noviembre en KayCee Club.
Quiero agradecer a nuestra comunidad por el apoyo a nuestros veteranos, a los que se encuentran actualmente en servicio, así como los que han servido en el ejército, sin dejar de agradecer también a sus familias. También quiero agradecer a los negocios de nuestra comunidad que apoyan a nuestros veteranos con eventos, donaciones y descuentos.

Querido Dios, honramos a nuestros veteranos, mujeres y hombres valiosos que han lo mejor de ellos, cuando los llamaron para servir y proteger a su país, rezamos para que los bendigas, señor, por su servicio sin egoísmo en lucha continúa para preservar nuestras libertades, nuestra seguridad y el patrimonio de nuestro país para todos nosotros. Bendícelos en abundancia por los momentos difíciles que han enfrentado, por los sacrificios que han hecho, por las muchas contribuciones para las victorias de los EE.UU. sobre la tiranía y la opresión. Los respetamos, les agradecemos, estamos orgullosos de ellos y rezamos para que cuides a estar personas especiales y los bendiga con paz y alegría. Oramos en el nombre de Jesús. Amén.
Recordemos a todos los veteranos que han sacrificado tanto por mantener a nuestro país a salvo. Dios bendiga todas nuestras tropas y cuide de ellos por siempre.
Ward 5 Update

Veterans Day
Veterans Day means a lot to me, as your Council Member for Ward 5, I continue my work to instill the values of patriotism in young people and for them to remember those who served this nation in the military, through work with our Veterans’ groups and the Veterans Day Parade and support from our city government for this.
For the past 14 years, during Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day, a contingent of elected officials, groups and organizations join me in going to the Southern Arizona V.A. Hospital to present thank you cards to veterans at the hospital along with the VA hospital staff for their work and service.
Schools across Tucson and Pima County, as well as groups and organizations have volunteered to make thank you cards for our veterans.
Greatest Generation
To remember the 396 Tucsonans of the Greatest Generation, who volunteered to serve our country during World War II and made the ultimate sacrifice, I’m working to ensure the completion of the World War II Memorial marking its 10th anniversary, that is located in Armory Park. The Memorial was the idea of the late Gilbert Quintanilla, who had served our country and saw our community had no memorial to those Tucsonans who served and died in World War II.
I am looking forward to the Veterans Tribute Luncheon, Sunday, November 5, at the KayCee Club, to honor more Tucsonans who served and have served this nation in the military.
I want to thank our community for their support of our veterans, those who are serving as well as those who have served, and their families. I also want to thank those businesses in our community, who support our active and retired veterans with events, donations and discounts.
Thank you to those serving, and to the families, as well as those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice, God bless you. You are not forgotten and here is the Veteran’s Prayer:
“Dear Lord, we honor our veterans, worthy men and women who gave their best when they were called upon to serve and protect their country. We pray that you will bless them, Lord, for their unselfish service in the continual struggle to preserve our freedoms, our safety, and our country’s heritage, for all of us. Bless them abundantly for the hardships they faced, for the sacrifices they made, for their many different contributions to America’s victories over tyranny and oppression. We respect them, we thank them, we honor them, we are proud of them, and we pray that you will watch over these special people and bless them with peace and happiness. In Jesus’ name we pray; Amen.
Let us remember all of the veterans that sacrificed so much to keep our country safe. God bless all of our troops and may He watch over them forever.”
