Happy Thanksgiving!
By Ward 5 Council Member RIchard Fimbres
Dear Friends:
Happy Thanksgiving!. I want to thank you for your support for my efforts to continue my work as your Ward 5 Council Member. I’m grateful for the vote of confidence received in the Tucson General Election and the message was very clear that my work and accomplishments for the Ward and the City resonated in every Ward in Tucson. Look forward to serving Ward 5 and continue to build the Renaissance of Ward 5 and the South Side.
The upcoming Holidays are the time of year, when we reflect on all the blessings that we have received and continue to receive. We are thankful for our families, our homes, good health, our friends and our community.

Time to renew
It is time to renew our faith in family, help one another and to meet everyday challenges by working together. Like I’ve always said Tucson don’t point fingers, scapegoat and place blame, we roll up our sleeves and solve the challenges at hand. During these challenging times, we need to rely more on our families and one another.
We need to continue to practice the guidelines that the CDC and Pima County Health Department have issued about COVID-19 and the flu too, overcoming these challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic continues and the number of cases and positive COVID tests are increasing in our city and in Pima County. I have heard too many sad stories of loved ones passing from COVID and the flu so we must continue to take action to deal with this.
Get COVID-19 tests
The Pima County Health Department is offering all COVID-19 vaccinations, as well as the booster shots at their Abrams Center building, 3950 S. Country Club, Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can also get free COVID-19 tests from the County Health Department. For more information, please call (520) 724-8770.
We need to continue to practice social distancing, wearing masks, washing your hands with soap and water, avoiding crowded areas and cleaning frequently, sanitizing touched surfaces and objects, daily. If you are sick, please stay home.
Seniors citizens stay at home
Senior citizens and those with underlying health conditions need to avoid crowded places, stay at home as much as possible, limiting close contact with others, especially those who may be sick, and clean frequently touched surfaces and objects daily. Keep your Nanas and Tatas, Tíos and Tías and our children safe. We must work together, to protect ourselves from COVID-19 and not become another statistic during this pandemic.
We have also lost too many loved ones and friends who drove when they were impaired.
Holidays are to be enjoyed by families and friends, we need to keep gatherings as small as possible or outdoors and wear a mask if you need to be indoors.
Be Safe, Be Healthy, wear a mask and don’t drink and drive. I hope you all have a great Holiday Season and get your COVID shot, COVID booster shot, and your flu shot.
