Ward 5 Dec 2020

Ward 5 Dec 2020. I want to thank Jesus Licona and the staff at HOLA Tucson Magazine for their partnership and providing the coverage on our accomplishments as your Councilmember.

The most important thing we have is our families, and this year, with the COVID-19 pandemic, we have suffered the loss of family and friends to the virus.    Until we can get that vaccine, we must continue to practice social distancing, washing our hands frequently and wearing a mask.

The Pima County Health Department is offering free, COVID-19 testing, for more information, please call (520) 724-7770.

Covid cases

The numbers of COVID cases and positive tests are rising and we must continue these practices for ourselves, our families and our community.   We are coming up to the Holiday Season, we must limit our gatherings to ten or less and celebrate outdoors if you can.   This is painful, but if we do this, we will be together to celebrate holiday gatherings for years to come.

As we celebrate the Holidays, don’t drink and drive.  We have seen an increase in pedestrian, motorcycle and vehicle accidents and fatalities, losing loved ones to these this year.

Be Heard and Be Counted

I want to thank everyone who went and filled out their Census forms for the 2020 U.S. Census.  HOLA Tucson Magazine was helpful in getting the word out so that we could “Be Heard and Be Counted,” for this important Census.

In their magazine, HOLA Tucson encouraged everyone to vote in the November election and we did, in record numbers.   The most votes ever cast!   Thank you for voting.  For those elected officials who are leaving office this year, I want to thank you for your service.  To the newly elected officials, I want to congratulate you and look forward to working with you to better our community,

Thanks to Hola! Tucson Magazine

HOLA Tucson Magazine has been there when I hold events, community meetings and the dedications and ribbon cuttings for businesses.  I have worked to open businesses and created jobs this year, even during the COVID-19 pandemic and I will work in 2021 and we will have more businesses opening and jobs being created in Ward 5.  During my time as your Ward 5 Councilmember, I’ve worked to create more than 11,000 new jobs in our community.

Lastly, I want to thank you for reading HOLA Tucson and my monthly articles.  I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.    Together we are making a difference.

Be Safe, Stay Healthy, Wear a Mask and Don’t Drink and Drive.
